Lip Care

With the cold winter weather (it's freezing in Scotland today!) out lips can get very dry, very quickly. No one likes dry cracked lips! I am obsessed with lip balm at the moment and it seems to be paying off as my lips have remained nice and soft so far.I thought I would share some of my favourite lip care products with you.

I first tried this lip balm when my gran included it in my Christmas gifts a couple of years ago. I had never heard of this french brand before but upon trying this lip balm I was hooked. I love that it is is a lipstick style which is super easy to apply. Its also very very nourishing and inexpensive (usually £4.50 but is currently half price).

Last year I took an allergic reaction to a lip product (I don't know what exact product it was but I think it was L'oreal's 6 Hour lip gloss). Anyways my lips when so dry and cracked really badly. It was sore and its safe to say my lips didn't look too good. With my normal lip balms doing nothing to help, I bought Carmex as I had heard it was slightly medicated. I have used the normal and cherry flavour and prefer the cherry one I think. This balm is a thick oily consistency that turns to a liquid/oil when hot. This instantly helped soothe my lips and over a week helped to get rid of my rough chapped lips.

I previously did a blog post on these super cute kits (here). I got a set of 3 tins with 3 balms in each one from Costco. The chap sticks themselves are actually really good and I have one sitting on my desk at work, one in my car and one on my bedside table and have been using them daily. They do a good job at keeping my lips moisturised and they flavours are really yummy (apple, cherry and strawberry)!

I randomly picked this up one day in Lush mainly because it was bright pink and smelled AMAZING! This is a natural lip scrub made of caster sugar and jojoba oil. This is really good just to give your lips a good exfoliation to get rid of rough dead skin and leaves the lips smooth and plump. I don't use this all the time but if my lips are feeling a bit poorly then I will bring this sweet treat out.

I have a few of these Burts Bees lip balms but my favourite is the Replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil. It smells lovely, is super hydrating and also leaves a very sheer wash of colour to my lips. I would definitely purchase more of these.

MAC Tendertone Lip Balm in Pucker

Now I got this years ago and unfortunately I don't think you can buy it anymore. This is a tinted lip balm that softens the lips while giving them a nice colour. Pucker is a gorgeous berry colour and it looks really pretty on the lips, almost like a gloss. It smells super fruity as well which I love.

As you may be able to tell I like a wide range of lip care products and don't tend to splash out in this area as I find cheaper drugstore brands do the job perfectly!
