When I first heard that YSL was bringing out this foundation I was really eager to try it. I love and have used the Touche Eclat pen for years so the promise of a foundation which diffuses light to give a flawless finish was appealing.
I went to House of Frasers to get colour match and unfortunately once I got home and tried it I realised the girl had advised me to buy the wrong colour. It was too dark for my skin tone. At the time I had a bit of a tan so I could blend it in without it looking obviously too dark for my skin. Now with my skin being much lighter I only wear this foundation when I wear fake tan.
The foundation itself is fairly liquidly in consistency and does blend nicely on the skin. It provides light to medium coverage and gives the skin a nice dewy finish. The skin is left with a nice radiant look. I would say that the wear is average, not super long lasting.
I didn't like the smell of this foundation, like all YSL products is smells a bit like watermelon which I really don't like. I also felt like this foundation never really sinks in to the skin very well, giving it an ever so slightly heavy feeling.
I love the packaging of this foundation as it feels very luxurious. Overall I thought this was a nice foundation but I am not sure that I would re-purchase it. This might have been different if the girl had correctly colour matched me.
Have you tried this foundation?

You can take it back and swap - I own this foundation too, and was almost colour-matched too dark, but I asked for a lighter shade because the MUA was trying to tell me I was "too pale" and that I needed colour in my skin. She also advised generous applications of bronzer on my skin. NO, I know what colour my skin is thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my original point - you are allowed to bring make-up back and ask for a refund if you're unhappy with it, which I would do if I were you, considering how much it is! Obviously you will need the receipt though...
