Hi everyone! So sorry for my absence. This week has been a bit hectic as I started my new job and have had stuff going on in my personal life but I'm back today with a nice little foundation review.
As you may have seen in my recent Holiday Haul, I finally purchased the Make Up Forever HD Foundation. This foundation has been on my wish list for years but due to it's lack of accessibility in the UK and especially Scotland, I had never managed to get my hands on it. Finally I found it in Sephora on holiday. Let the love affair begin...
The MUFE HD Foundation is descibed by Sephora as 'an oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life'.
I would say that the coverage of this foundation is medium, not medium-to-full. Medium coverage is perfect for my skin needs and I find that it evens out my skin tone and covers blemishes well, so much so I haven't been needing to use concealer on my blemishes.
The description is right in that it looks invisible. This foundation looks so unelievably natural on the skin yet still makes it look flawless. It doesn't look like you have foundation on, just that you have amazing skin. As a result of this is feels so light on the skin that you forget you're wearing make up.
This foundation has a satin finish. By this I mean it is in no way skiny or dewy but just gives you skin a pretty sheen or that 'glow from within' look. This is perfect for combination skin types and as it is oil-free is also great for oily/blemished skin.
This really does give a soft focus finish thanks to the sericite in it which enables rays of light to spread more widely intensifying the radiance of the complexion. I have been using my Real Techniques Face Expert Brush to apply this. I use 2 or 2 1/5 pumps of this foundation, dot it around my face then buff out with my brush. I find that using my face expert brush gives me the most flawless finish.
With regards wear, this seems to last well on me, a good 5 to 6 hours looking perfect. What I love about this foundation is that it doesn't seem to oxidise on me or go patchy. When is starts wearing off it simply fades naturally rather than become patchy. I have been setting this foundation with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder for days when I want my make up to last longer.
They have a great colour selection. I got mine in N125 which is perfect for me.
I only have a two gripes with this foundation. One being the packaging. The plastic lid seems to fall off all the time which isn't great for your make up bag. My second critism is the price. This foundation is fairly expensive.
That being said I must admit I am a little in love with this foundation and do think it was worth the money. It's too early to say but I am thinking that this foundation could make it to Holy Grail status.
Have you tried this foundation?
