Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great Christmas! As 2013 draws to a close I thought it would be good to do a summary of my favourite make up products of 2013. I bought a lot of make up this year and tried out a lot of new products but there was definitely some that stood out for me. So here is a run down of my make up favourites....
Favourite Primer- 17 Photo Flawless Primer
I blogged about this primer back in March (here). I was surprised at how good it was considering how inexpensive it was. This smoothed the skin, disguised pores and created a nice base for foundation. I'm not sure if this is still available as I can't seem to see in on the Boots website anymore. A close second was the Benefit Porefessional.
Favourite Concealer- Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
This has been a favourite of mine for years now. No other concealer seems to come close to this highstreet/drugstore one. It has great coverage and lasts well, what more would you want in a concealer. I have repurchased this many times throughout 2013.
Favourite Foundation- Make Up For Ever HD Foundation
I have tried so many new foundations this year but my favourite has hands down been this one. Everything about this foundation was perfect for me it had a satin finish, medium cover and great lasting power. I loved it. Unfortunately I got it whilst on holiday in Spain and can't seem to get hold of it back here in the UK.
Favourite Bronzer- NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium
This bronzer really stood out for me. It costs around only £8 yet it was great quality, pigmented and a nice matte colour. This reminded me of the Too Faced chocolate bronzer which I love. I have also been loving Benefit's Hula but it is still too early to declare it a favourite.
Favourite Contour Powder- NYX Blush in Taupe
I'm so glad that I got this blush. On first glimpse it may see like a stranger contour choice but really NYX Blush in Taupe is the perfect natural shadow colour meaning it is great for chiselling out cheekbones and slimming the face. Love.
Favourite Setting Powder- Armani Luminous Silk Powder
I love the foundation but I must say I think the powder is even better. I'm so glad that I took the leap and bought this setting powder. I literally gives that flawless airbrushed finish, making pores and imperfections disappear using light diffusing particles. The soft focus finish of the powder is amazing. I would 100% recommend it.
Favourite Highlighter- Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight
This is a truly beautiful highlighter. It gives a gorgeous glow from within effect, not shimmery but like the name suggests a candlelight glow. I have loved dusting this over the tops of my cheekbones.
Favourite Blusher- Fashionista Blush in Juicy Apricot
This was a great find and so inexpensive. I adored this peachy blush and wore it for months straight. In fact I think it is the first ever brusher that I have completely used up. If you are looking for a new blush then try this out. It is pigmented yet blends beautifully. My new Charlotte Tilbury blush is swiftly creeping up on this one though!
Favourite Brow Product- Sleek Brow Kit
This little kit is great. I blogged about it now so long ago (here). It comes with everything you need for perfect brows. Simple.
Favourite Eyeshadows- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
The Naked 2 Palette was my go to palette for all of my eye looks this year. The colours are so pretty and pigmented and blend out perfectly. I loved the range of colours and I could easily do day time or night time looks using this palette. I recently got the Naked 3 Palette so lets see if this lives up to this one.
Favourite Eyeliner- Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner
I am so happy that I discovered this eyeliner. Since using it I haven't looked back and don't think I will ever find anything which quite matches this one. It is very liquify, easy to use and super black. It makes doing winged eyeliner so simple and the colour stays put all day.
Favourite Mascara- Benefit They're Real Mascara
This mascara has been a favourite of mine for a while now. I blogged about it last year (here). It gives long thick false looking lashes. The only downside is that it is quite hard to remove but I can overlook that for nice lashes!
Favourite Lashes- Ardell Wispies
These lashes have been my favourites through out 2013. They are inexpensive (I use my Salon Services trade card). The Wispies give just enough drama yet still look natural and soft. They also do Demi-Wispies which are great for a less dramatic look. Ardell lashes are, in my opinion, one of the best brands for false lashes.
Favourite Lipstick- Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect
I have only had this lipstick for a month but already I can class it as my favourite lipstick of 2013. The colour is the most perfect 'your lips but better' colour. The texture and sheen is leaves is beyond pretty. I just love it!
Favourite Lipgloss- NYX Lipgloss in Beige
This gloss, whilst unusually named, is a beautiful pink colour. It is creamy, not sticky. This gloss is great to wear over nudes or pretty pinks. Alternatively you could wear it on its own for a natural look as it is nicely pigmented.
So there you have my round up of my favourite make up picks of 2013. For someone with a make up addiction to choice just 15 products is not an easy task, believe me! I'm sure 2014 will be filled with more beautiful products to try out :)
