Current Haircare

As promised I'm back with a hair care post. Last month I got my hair cut and as with every time I visit the hairdressers it has revived my interest in hair care. I alway promise myself that after having my hair cut I will look after it and keep it in great condition then I rush out an buy a handful of new hair products to help me maintain my mane.

I thought I would share with you some of the products that I have been using to keep my hair feeling and looking healthy.

I have oily roots and dry ends which makes it really hard find products that nourish my hair without leaving it weighed down and greasy. I also have a lot of hair but it is very fine so volume is a really issue for me.

A product that I have won't to try since reading about it in Seventeen Magazine when I was 16 was Mane N Tail Shampoo. This is the shampoo made for horses which was made famous by Jennifer Aniston. Let's face it Jennifer Aniston probably has the most perfect hair in the world so any product she uses of course I'm gonna want to try!

My lovely friend bought me the shampoo and conditioner to try and I was so excited to use it. This was originally used as a horse shampoo but can also be used by humans (some people might be freaked out by this!). It is claimed as giving soft shiny hair and also helping to encourage hair growth.  This has a lovely fresh sent to it and I must admit that after using it my hair feels really soft and nourished. I have only been using it for a couple of weeks so I will keep you posted on whether it helps my hair grow faster.

I have also been using L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo. I spoke about this in my recent collective haul post. This shampoo works by expanding the diameter of the hair giving it a fuller, thicker appearance. I really like this shampoo and it does make my hair feel thicker especially after blow drying it. I have been switching my shampoo between each of theses each time I was my hair.

Now moving on to dry shampoo. As every girls with oily hair will tell you, dry shampoo is a life saver. This month I have been loving the Batiste Dry Shampoo Dark & Deep Brown. This dry shampoo contains a hint of colour which is great because normal dry shampoos can leave a white cast on my dark hair. I don't think I have found a better dry shampoo than Batiste however I have heard that the one from Dove is supposed to be good so I may just have to try that. I use this on days in between washes. It also helps to had a bit of volume to my hair.

Moving on to products that help condition and protect my hair, the more interesting products some may say! I recently bought the Charles Worthington Salon at Home Intense Rescue Melting Balm. This is a pre shower product. It is basically a solid balm which you scoop out a small amount rub between your hands, turning it to an oil and then you apply this to dry hair, leave it for 20 mins and then wash out and shower as normal. It helps to add moisture back to the hair, smooth and repairs split ends and add shine. A little of this goes a long way! As I have oily roots I only apply this from my mid lengths to my ends. After using this hair treatment my hair feels so soft and healthy. I have been using this once a week for an extra boost of nourishment.

My everyday conditioner has been the Mane N Tail Conditioner. This conditioner to match the shampoo smells equally fresh. It is a thick conditioner which I like and again I only apply this from my mid lengths down. This makes my hair feels so smooth and soft and I have noticed that my ends look much healthier.

A new product to my hair care collection is the It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product. I have heard so many beauty gurus talk about this hair product, especially the American girls. I finally decided to buy it (from Sally's). This product is a 10 in 1 leave in product which claims to 1) repair dry damaged hair 2) add shine 3) detangles 4) control frizz 5) seal & protect hair colour 6) stop hair breakage 7) prevent split ends 8) create silkiness 9) enhance natural body and 10) act as a thermal protector.....phewwww! That is a long list but sounds good, right? I was surprised at how thick this lotion is and was surpassed that it act managed to spray. I sprayed this in my damp hair and blow dried and styled it as normal. This really works, my hair felt amazing after using this. So soft, shiny and just manageable.

Finally when I only use shampoo and conditioner I like to apply a small amount of the Phil Smith Argan Oil Hair Transforming Cream. As the name suggests it contains argan oil. This just adds moisture to my ends and helps protect them from heat styling. It also smells amazing and doesn't weigh down or leave my hair greasy.

These are the products that I have been using and loving to keep my hair in shape. I'm pretty happy with my hair care routine at the moment and think I will be sticking with it for a while. It's all about the soft, shiny, nourished hair :)

What products have you been loving for your hair?
